My Medicine MY MEDICINE

the telephone, which sits next to my medication on the counter in the kitchen, reminds me of last night when we talked, and your gentle words of comfort to a sick and dying boy, whose spirits were lifted to health just by hearing the phone ring--even if I had to stand up to go get it (which wasn't a very pleasant experience for an aching stomach), I did,and never regretted it--because the mere sound of your voice takes me back to the day I first called you (the tension in my stomach then making me as queasy as I am now) and the surge of unfamiliar emotions that deluged my soul until I could no longer ignore them, and later called
Kitten... KITTEN...

Despair reminds me of a lost kitten I once found... She had a look about her that just begged for my compassion. Yet once she found me, she followed me around wherever I went.
Sometimes she lead me down dark alleys, other times she simply lurked behind in my shadow.
Sometimes I’d forget her… “Maybe she’s left me,” I would think. But it seems she is bound to me.
Vampiric in essence, she drains me of any happiness or joy. She grew heavier as time passed, feeding gluttonously on any flicker of hope or strength.

She makes me carry her now (sometimes she opts to ride on my shoulders). But no matter what, she

I started bleeding again today…
Scarlet tears
From scars that still remember…

Time:
You are a liar.
These wounds still haven’t healed.

…As I tend to them
They whisper to me:
“Will you meet her in the hospital today?”

I suppose I’ll linger a while longer.
But the truth is:
You’re not coming…

…You were never hurt…

Last year
We crossed the bridge as usual.
And before we knew it…
The seasons had changed.

How long did it take you?
…To forget what I cannot?
Shadow Dancing SHADOW DANCING:

Walking eastward between a red brick wall
And chainlink fence,
Last year’s shadows mock him.

The shadow of another once sat here…
Walked here,
Danced here,
Held here…
With his, at the ending of the day.

Alone his shadow walks this evening.
The warmth of that setting summer sun does nothing
For a heart so cold.

But he turns to face it-
And the taunting shadows disappear
Behind him.

Working on an art project for a friend. These are some of the doodles I made along the way.

The images are in order, from left to right.

The first is the original doodle that inspired the project.
The second was my first attempt at recreating it more "professionally", but it failed to capture the spirit of the original, so I went back to the drawing board.
The third is a near final draft, as far as posing goes. Now I just need to clean it up and correct some anatomy issues.

You can click download to see the images at full-size... not that I recommend it.
